Barra fishing in the bay has slowed a little over the past week or so but still some quality fish to be had. Sunday Ian from Mackay landed a solid 93cm fish and on monday anather cliend bustesd off a fish close to a metre and landed a 80cm fish.
Yesterday I did a tour to the Vernon Islands with Gavin and Craig from N.S.W. The tip out was a liitle rough for a few miles but not too bad. The queenfish and trevally proved quiet but Craig boated a nice 90cm queeny which put up a good battle on the bait caster gear. The fishing improved once we settled inside the creek to sit out the low tide. We managed about 40 fish wich included 11 different species. The Mangrove Jacks were on the chew and the average size was outstanding. The boys managed 20 Jacks with 12 of them being over 40cm and the biggest a fat 47cm fish. Many other big fish were lost to the snags and rocks. The trip home was made in smooth conditions to top off a great day.
